Smoking Ban in the District of Columbia
An electric bulletin board at the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport
says ' Smoking is prohibited in public places inside the terminal.
The D.C. Council gave final approval to a broad banned in bars, restaurants,
night clubs, and other public places,
to add the nation's capital to a growing list of smoke-free cities and
states. It exempted the outdoor areas,
hotel guest rooms, retail tobacco outlets, cigar bars, and business, which
can show that they receive 10% or
more of their annual revenue from tobacco sales, excluding cigarette bending
machines. The District's smoking ban,
modeled closely on New York City's, enforced from January 2007.
