Paris 2008/2010

Paris is the capital of France and the country's most populated city. It is situated on the river Seine, in
northern France. The city of Paris, within its administrative limits, is almost unchanged since 1860.
However, the Paris metropolitan area has a population of over 11,700,000, and is one of the largest
metropolitan areas in Europe.

Paris is today one of the world's leading business and cultural centers. About 45 million tourists every
year visit Paris Region, 60% of whom are foreign visitors.

パリはあまりにもよく知られたフランスの観光拠点、筆者は1970年に始めて、その後、1989年と2000年、2008年に
パリを訪れており、今回､2010年は5回目の訪問である。一日観光の軌跡を示す。

Paris provides a bicycle service by RATP (the metro company). Those who wish to subscribe by the day or week
do so at the automatic computer terminals located at the bicycle stations, paying 1 Euro for a day subscription
and 5 Euros for a week-long subscription. You need a credit card for the day and weekly subscriptions, and
presumably you are charged at least 150Euros if you don't return the bicycle.

少しでも車の数を減らして二酸化炭素の排出をおさえようと考えられたシステム。「Velib」と言われている。利用するには
利用者登録をする必要があるが、上記の機械で行う。すべてクレジット支払いで、レンタル依頼および返却手続きをここ
機械で行う。登録料は1日、１ユーロ、7日、５ユーロで、使用料金は30分以内なら無料、次の30分は１ユーロ、次の30分
は２ユーロと、長い使用に対し割高な設定がなされている。

日本のようなトイレ天国で生活していると分からないが、欧州ではトイレの使用は有料であるとの考えが浸透している。
従って５０セント、１ユーロ、２ユーロの小銭を所持していないと安心して街を歩けない。トイレにお金を使いたくない
人は、レストランで食事をして、そこのトイレを使用するしかないだろう。

パリ市内では景観保護や歴史的建造物保護のため、近代的な施設を新たに建造することが非常に難しいため、建築規制の
少ないこのラ・デファンス地区に超高層ビルが林立した。ルーブル宮殿、コンコルド広場、凱旋門の延長線上にある。
地上部分は歩行者用であり、道路や鉄道は地下に配置されている。
