Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport boasts convenient transportation links the city of Taipei, via shuttle bus to HSR,
An extension of the Taipei Metro (MRT) is currently being built to serve Taoyuan Airport.

台湾桃園（タオゥエン）国際空港は台北市の西南約40kmに位置する台湾最大の空港である。かって英語では蒋介石の英語表記
( Chiang Kai-Shek )の頭文字を取ったC.K.S. Airportと言う別称が使用されていた。しかし、この名称を用いることに
批判的な論調が増え、2006年9月台湾桃園国際空港と改称された。

Taipei Taoyuan International Airport
Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport is an international airport serving the capital of Taipei, and the northern
parts of the island. It is located about 40 km west of Taipei. , the airport is Taiwan's largest airport.

In 2012, the renovation project of the terminal was completed, doubling the floor area, expanding check-in
counters, increasing shopping areas and expanding car-parking facilities. Part of the project was the complete
redesigning of both the exterior and interior of the terminal. Overcrowding of the airport in recent years
prompted the construction of Terminal 2, which was opened on July 29, 2000. The airport has announced
construction plans for Terminals 3. Over 2.3 billion US Dollars will be poured into the project, among the most
costly constructions in modern Taiwanese history. The terminal is expected to be opened in 2020 and
accommodated 45 million passengers per annum.

No more smoking facilities anywhere in Taiwan Yaoyuan Airport

Under the new rule, smoking is banned in all offices and indoor facilities such as department stores, restaurants,
cafes, cinemas, airports and railway stations. The ban on indoor-smoking is enforced by the Departmentof
Health and has received support from the majority of Taiwanese.
The Taipei international airport has shut its 16 smoking rooms, and Taiwan's airlines have voluntarily stopped
promoting the sale of duty-free cigarettes during flights, but will sell them if passengers ask for them.

2009年1月、台湾衛生署国民健康局は従来の法律を強化し公共の場所での喫煙を原則禁止とし、台湾全土にて新しい
「喫煙害防止法」を施行。法律に基づき空港を含む全部の交通機関で全面禁煙が施行された。空港内、16の喫煙室は
全部閉鎖された。喫煙者は建物の外に出てタバコを吸わねばならない。

台北からマカオに向かっていたマカオ航空の定期便で１月、乗務員の忠告を聞かず座席で2度にわたり喫煙した乗客に憤った
機長が決断し、台北空港に戻るという珍事が起こった。乗客は航空警察に引き渡され、取り調べを受けた。この乗客は台湾
籍の男性。飛行機は離陸から20分を超えていたが、機長の判断で台北空港にＵターンした。男性は民用航空法違反で取り調べ
を受け、煙害防止法にも抵触しているため、県衛生局からも罰金刑が科せられる。機内での喫煙は１万台湾元（3.2万円）から
5万元（16万円）の罰金。煙害防止法に違反するとさらに2000元から10000元の罰金が科せられる。他の乗客もこの乗客の
傲慢（ごうまん）な態度には憤っており、機長の判断に賛同を示した。引用：中国時報（台湾）、2013年2月4日

日本の空港には必ず喫煙室が整備されている。しかも航空機に乗る直前まで喫煙できる。成田国際空港には43の喫煙室が
整備され、羽田国際空港には69もの喫煙室がある。これは世界最多である。先進国空港の喫煙室は全廃されつつあり、
カナダ、英国、アイルランド、フランス、ニュージランド、オーストラリアなどではターミナル建物内では一切喫煙できない。
米国では36の国際空港のうち、ソルトレーク空港など5つの空港で喫煙室を設けている。しかし、タバコによる三次喫煙
防止のため、セキュリティチェック地点以降には喫煙室を設置していない。

喫煙室閉鎖後に再開
北京国際空港は2011年5月、36あった喫煙室を全廃し、中国初の完全無煙空港となった。しかし、違反者が多く、7ヵ月後
に9か所の喫煙室を復活した。台湾の台北国際空港は2009年1月に喫煙室を全廃していたが、時を同じくして空港内に
喫煙室を新たに設置した。日本人団体を多く扱う日本旅行業協会の台北空港当局に対し喫煙室を設置するように申し入れた
ためと言われている。他国への内政干渉で無礼な行為だが、台北空港では屋内法に抵触しないように屋外と屋内との中間に
新たに喫煙室を設けた。表示は「屋外喫煙室」としている。台風のときは強風が吹き込むため閉鎖される。

Taipei Songshan Airport

The airport was built in 1936 during Nipponese rule with its origins as a Japanese military airbase, the Taihoku Airfield,
also known as Matsuyama Airport. Taipei Songshan Airport is a mid-size commercial airport. It is also used for an army
basein Songshan, Taipei. The civilian section of Songshan Airport, officially Taipei International Airport has scheduled
flights serving domestically in Taiwan, and also to China, South Korea and Japan, with the vast majority of international
flights out of the Taipei area served by Taoyuan International Airport.

In March 2009, Japan and Taiwan signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the revision of Taiwan-Japan bilateral
traffic treaty. JAL, ANA, Eva Airways ( Taiwan ) and China Airlines are now operating from Songshan Airport to Tokyo
International Airport ( Haneda ). Because it is in an urban area, there is a problem of noise and safety, the integration
of transfer to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport has been considered due to the decrease of domestic users due to
opening of Taiwan high-speed railway, improvement of airport access by opening of Taoyuan station.
