Kaohsiung Mass Rapid Transit System :KMRT The construction accidents delayed the opening of the MRT considerably from the originally planned December 2006 date. The line fully opened in September, 2008. The Kaohsiung MRT system is made up of 2 lines with 36 stations covering a distance of 40.4km. Twenty-seven of these stations is underground, with 8 elevated and 1 at a grade level.
